The Boquet River Association (BRASS) is a 200-member grass-roots organization dedicated to the quality of water and life in the Boquet watershed. Formed in 1984, it is known for understanding and mitigating conflicting river interests in an effective and balanced manner. It was instrumental in the formation of its sister organization, ASRA. The Boquet is the steepest river in New York and, hence is subject to excessive stress on streambanks and serious sediment erosion, which is damaging to fish habitat and recreational uses. The Boquet watershed in Keene is some of our town's most beautiful and pristine wilderness. Preserving the health and quality of this unique natural resource is important to town residents and the visitors who power the local economy. Volunteers are needed
for river study and improvement projects. Funding comes from membership
dues, donations, foundations, and government grants. |
