Our Town’s senior group, Golden Peaks, was formed in 2004.  It provides social activities, trips, information, and support for senior health issues and needs.  They have their own space, the Senior Room, in the back of the Town offices in the Grist Mill Annex building, just off Rt. 73 on Gristmill Lane in Keene.

Monthly meetings at the Senior Room host relevant senior issue speakers, provide updates and supportive data, and plan day or extended trips. There are also monthly pizza /game nights.  Weekly Walking, Osteoporosis Exercise, Art, Crafts, and Computer classes also provide socialization and physical activity for members.

Another need that Golden Peaks pays attention to is that it’s often difficult for older residents to find or ask for assistance.  They have created an Outreach Support Program (TASK), with Keene Central School student support, which offers temporary assistance with snow removal, home care problems, grocery delivery, or medicine for example.

This organization exists because of the time and energy of volunteers.  They can always use more help.
