Cynthia Johnston, |
HPEF was formed in 1999 to support special projects at Keene Central School (KCS). It has equipped the distance learning room and the computer lab, and made auditorium improvements. It also partially funds international school trips and supports the KCS Mentoring program. Today, HPEF supports implementation of the School Board’s strategic plan (based on the KCS Enhancement Task Force), which aims to keep KCS a vital part of our community. A new KCS web site has been created. Work on linking the curriculum to the local environment is underway. Efforts to attract families with children to Town include HPEF’s Town-Wide Broadband Project, a multi-year effort, with KVVI, to bring fast internet service to the whole Town in order to to attract families with Internet-based jobs to live in Keene and send their children to KCS. Further use of the Internet at KCS is also planned. Tax-deductible donations can be mailed to HPEF. Please identify donations intended for the Broadband Project with a note. There are many volunteer opportunities at KCS: coaching, mentoring, tutoring, etc. Also, KCS holds many scholarship funds for graduates continuing their education; these funds can be added to directly, or through donations to HPEF. Please call Cynthia Johnston for current information on volunteering and scholarships. |
