The Keene Community Trust (KCT) was formed in fall of 1999 by a group of residents who wanted to protect and enhance the small town character of life in our town. To date they have sponsored educational programs about how other towns have dealt with development, planning, traffic control, historic preservation and affordable housing. They also started a fund to purchase properties for community use. Donations to this fund are welcome.
KCT's first project was to purchase the condemned house next to the Valley Grocery in 2004. The land was converted into a public parking area to ease traffic and parking congestion. The Town subsequently purchased the property and now maintains the lot. This successful outcome, aided by over 120 contributions and grants, has enabled KCT to turn its attention to other projects. The Board continues to encourage suggestions and involvement from the community.
