The committee works on one project at a time, in conjunction with the Housing Assistance Program of Essex County, and the Adirondack Community Housing Trust. It includes representatives from KCS, Town Government, community organizations and residents. They are developing 6 detached, Energy Star rated, passive solar homes near Town Hall.
Buyers of these new homes will own the house, but not the property, providing a mechanism to keep the value of the homes tied to median income levels and thereby affordable in perpetuity.
Donations of funds can be made through the Keene Community Trust. Donations of land are key to their efforts and if you would like to know more, please call Marcy directly.
