The Keene Food Pantry provides a full range of wholesome food to families and individuals who need help. In addition to helping one-to-three families each week, the Food Pantry also provides food to the elderly or seriously ill people who can't get out to shop for themselves. Food Pantry volunteers will deliver goods to you if you are without transport or immobile. In their space in the Keene Public Library (donated by the town) they have a freezer and refrigerator as well as lots of shelves, so they are able to accept donations of pretty much any kind of food - as long as it is something that you would personally eat, i.e., is unopened and not past its use-by date. Seasonal residents should remember the Pantry when cleaning out the kitchen at end of season. Restaurants can donate surplus items too. Regular hours are Wednesdays from 9-noon or as needed for emergencies. People in need are welcome to call Pat. This small group is not a registered 501(c)(3). But if you want to make a tax-deductible donation, do so through the churches in town, all of whom support its work. During collection drives, you can drop off food items at the Keene Public Library, the churches, either Post Office, or with the scout troops. Pat could use more volunteers to help with food shopping, staffing the Pantry on Wednesday mornings, or to serve on the board. Give her a call. |
