Keene Green is a local all-volunteer organization that educates the town about simple things local residents can do to help address global climate change. They do take on national issues, but with a strong local focus. Their "Tip-of-the-Month" is distributed via an email list and the town calendar. Through their efforts, #1 plastic containers are now recyclable at the Town Dump. They also are working on a community garden, a buy-local program, special film presentations and offering re-usable mesh produce bags.
The group is organized into Task Groups and temporary Special Events/Projects. If you wish to start a new Green project in Keene, start by talking to this group. Get in touch with any of the three co-leaders by email and get involved.
