The Adirondack Medical Center Foundation was established in 1997 as the "fundraising arm" of the Adirondack Medical Center which is an integral part of health care delivery to the high peaks region of the Adirondacks. Most important to Keene is the AMC operation of the Mountain Health Center in Keene and the emergency center in Lake Placid. AMC/Lake Placid (the old Lake Placid Hospital) offers a full range of outpatient services including Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, Medical Imaging and Laboratory Services, a health center much like the one in Keene, dentistry services as well as the 24/7 emergency services with board certified emergency physicians and physician assistants. The core facility of AMC is the Adirondack Medical Center, a 97-bed acute care general hospital located at 2233 State Route 86 across from Lake Colby in Saranac Lake. The web link cited here offers details on volunteering as well as many approaches to giving. A spring gala and a summer golf tournament are special fundraising events. In addition, Adirondack Medical Center conducts a general annual appeal to the public for support to assist in furthering the hospital's mission and programs and services. |
