If you like having access to National Public Radio via our local station, you should know that NCPR needs to operate three separate frequencies just to serve our town --no small task, and a costly one, too.

Through a network of 31 transmitters, NCPR is the only media service that serves the entire Adk Park - it is unique. And of course it brings you all the great programming of NPR like the Metropolitan Opera broadcasts, All Things Considered and Car Talk. The repeaters that tie Keene, Keene Valley and St. Huberts to the larger NCPR network were all built since 2000, thanks to funding from local and seasonal residents and state grants. Coverage of stories from greater Keene are archived on NCPR’s website. Many seasonal residents stay connected to the region via NCPR’s website, podcasts and daily news headlines via email.

Over 70% of the station’s annual budget comes directly from donations. NCPR also relies on community support for programming suggestions and signal sentinels (folks who let them know when they are off the air in their region). Their website www.NCPR.org is excellent. There, you can make donations, get all their programming and find out what is coming up. Take a look and you’ll be surprised and better informed!

NCPR broadcasts on three separate frequencies in our town:

Keene: 90.1FM

Keene Valley: 96.3FM

St. Huberts: 101.7FM
