The Rod and Gun Club's approximately 25 members promote wildlife preservation and conservation, as well as responsible fishing and hunting. Each spring they hold a kids fishing derby at the Bark Eater Pond, which they make sure is well-stocked for the occasion. They also provide funds that allow up to six kids to go to Camp Colby, the DEC Camp in Saranac Lake, each year.
They raise money
primarily through a raffle. A few important donations help them fund their
projects. This small organization is not registered as a 501(c)(3).
Fishing and hunting are an important part of the local economy and favorite
pastimes of many residents
