Public Notices on KVVI Channel 6: |
In 1940, Keene's population hit a peak of 1060, but by 1990 it had declined to 908. Then things changed and by 2001 we were up to 1075, living in 458 households. Seasonal residents add 1,200 people in the summer and 200-300 in the fall and winter. So we are nearly 2300 people during the busy months. There are some 984 houses in the Town of Keene, about 50% are seasonal or occasional use and 36% are owner occupied year-round. 9% are year-round rentals. 77% of the land in town is under conservation easements or owned by NY State. Estimates suggest there are only 900-1000 vacant sites for homes left in town. Largest Age Groups: |
