Requests to and from automated CEF libraries:

On Tuesday, the day before the courier van arrives

To and from automated libraries

  • Open Circulation Repeorts in Horizon
  • Open Request -> request pull list (it takes a while to load)
  • Sort by call number (optional but makes finding books easier)
  • Find books on the shelf and bring to desk, do not close list (actually I think it doesn't matter- see last item)
  • Using CKI- check books in (computer says "not checked out", hit continue, Computer says" location change"
  • attach receipt to long green marker, write destination on marker, insert in book
  • place books in courier bag or box
  • go back to request list and hit "Keep list" button

Following the courier delivery:

  • Using CKI, check in each book from the delivery.
  • if the book is a return from an automated library, nothing appears on the screen when it is checked in
  • if the book has been requested by a patron, the patron's name and number appear. Make a note of the number and call the patron to inform him/her of its arrival.
  • if the book is being returned from an unautomated library, the book will check in like a patron's return and the name will appear in the window. In this case there should be a white transfer sheet in the book. Save the sheet for ICEPAC check in.

Requests to and from unautomated CEF libraries

Filling requests

  • Go to favorites on browser, click "Library Request"
  • Go to ILL Librarian, enter keenev, password will appear
  • Go to Lending -> Pull slips, ->print pull slips (button on page bottom)
  • Print the slips, leave site on screen and pull the books from the shelves.
  • From the print pull slip site, go back to Lending and then to "Printed"
  • All the requested books appear. On the ones that are available, click go beside the shipped tag
  • If the books are not available, use the pull down menu under "shipped and say "unfilled"

Do this for each request, put the white transit slip in the back of the book

then check the book out to the library on the pull slip, if there is no library in the database for our location, make a new card for that library

put a green slip in all books that will go with the courier (CEF member libraries)

if not a CEF library, put in a padded mail envelope, and mail as soon as possible.
