| In search of a slower, more wholesome way of life, the Abbott
family moved to the beautiful Town of Keene in the heart of the
Adirondacks to raise their children in 1997. The family agreed small
town life was the change they needed. Flo, Reed, and the three
children embraced their new home, community, and the great
atmosphere of rural living in the Adirondack Mountains. They were fortunate enough to stumble upon a 100-year-old farmhouse in need of repair, a perfect proposition for Reed, a carpenter by trade. The family purchased the house in the summer of 1997 and spent weekends, holidays, and any other time they could renovating their new home. In 1998 the children enrolled at Keene Central School, well known for its unique personal atmosphere and one-on-one education. This reaffirmed that the family had made the right choice. Keene Central School, while small in size, offers tremendous opportunities for children of all ages. Reed and Flo welcomed their fourth child in the fall of 1999. Flo obtained her real estate license in 2001, after working in the industry and thoroughly enjoying it. After obtaining her brokers license in 2003, she has served on the local Board of Realtors as well as being involved in many community positions in Keene. She is well respected and liked within the community. Making the decision to move to Keene remains the best decision the Abbott family has made. Adirondack Living Homes strives to help families find the perfect place to begin their new way of life and embrace small town living in the High Peaks region of the Adirondacks. |
